Milwaukee, WI – High winds and snow showers are expected to make travel hazardous across southern Wisconsin today. An Arctic cold front will bring gusts up to 50 mph, especially along the I-94 corridor, creating dangerous conditions for drivers and outdoor activities.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Milwaukee, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 2 p.m. to midnight tonight. Gusty northwest winds of 40-45 mph, with isolated bursts up to 50 mph, will persist into the evening. Blowing snow could reduce visibility to under a mile at times, especially along east-central and southeastern roads. Commuters are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and secure any loose outdoor objects.

Temperatures will plummet overnight as the cold front strengthens. Wind chills are expected to drop into the single digits and below zero by Thursday morning, with lows ranging from -5°F to -10°F across the region. The NWS advises residents to dress warmly, check car batteries, and bring pets indoors to avoid exposure.

Looking ahead, Thursday will remain frigid but mostly clear, with highs near 27°F and continued northwest winds of 15-25 mph. Friday and Saturday offer some reprieve with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 20s to low 30s. By Sunday, clouds will return, bringing a 50% chance of rain or snow and highs nearing 40°F.

Plan ahead for the bitter cold and high winds tonight, and stay updated with the latest weather alerts from the NWS.
