Cleveland, Ohio – Patchy morning fog gave way to clear skies Friday across northern Ohio, setting the stage for a warm and mostly sunny day with calmer conditions on Lake Erie.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, northeast winds of 5 to 10 knots are expected on Lake Erie, with waves subsiding to around 1 to 2 feet. The improvement follows a stretch of choppy water earlier this week that limited some boating and swimming activity.

Cities including Cleveland, Akron, and Youngstown can expect afternoon highs in the low to mid-80s, with plenty of sunshine making for a comfortable late-summer day. Along the shoreline, Sandusky and Ashtabula should see similar conditions, creating a safer environment for beachgoers and boaters.

Drivers may still encounter lingering morning fog in low-lying areas, especially along rural stretches of Interstate 71 and U.S. Route 30, but visibility will steadily improve by mid-morning. Authorities remind boaters to wear life jackets and check lake advisories before heading out.

Conditions remain favorable through the evening, with the calm pattern expected to hold into the weekend.
