Eastern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania – Marginal severe weather risks have shifted farther west today, placing Zanesville, Ohio, and surrounding areas under a Level 1 risk for severe storms. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh reports that the confidence in storm instability has decreased, reducing the likelihood of severe weather in western Pennsylvania.

Light showers are expected to persist through the morning into the early afternoon across the region. As the day progresses, isolated to scattered thunderstorms may develop, particularly in eastern Ohio, with potential for damaging winds and heavy downpours late this afternoon and evening.

According to the latest forecast, Pittsburgh is anticipated to experience cloudy skies with a high of 84°F. There is a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms by late afternoon, tapering off by late evening. The weekend brings mixed weather, with temperatures in the upper 80s on Saturday and a slight chance of rain, followed by cooler, wet conditions on Sunday with highs in the upper 70s.

Residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely and ensure they are prepared for any sudden weather changes, particularly in areas under marginal risk.
