Fort Worth, TX – A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is forecast to move across North and Central Texas Friday night into early Saturday, bringing the threat of heavy rain, damaging winds, and isolated flooding.

According to the National Weather Service Fort Worth, the heaviest rainfall is expected between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., with most areas likely receiving 1 to 3 inches of rain. Isolated locations could see up to 5 inches, leading to minor flash flooding.

Storms are projected to begin near Graham and Mineral Wells this evening, then spread eastward through DFW, Waco, and Palestine overnight before exiting the region early Saturday. The main hazards include large hail, frequent lightning, and wind gusts over 60 mph. A few stronger storms could briefly turn severe, particularly in Central Texas, where conditions may support isolated tornado activity.

The system is expected to move quickly, reducing overall rainfall totals compared to earlier forecasts, but forecasters warn that saturated grounds could still lead to localized flooding. Additional rounds of storms are possible Saturday afternoon and evening, primarily south of the DFW area.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, and prepare to shelter if warnings are issued.
