Hanford, CA – Central California residents should prepare for a wet midweek as the National Weather Service (NWS) has increased the forecasted chances for measurable rainfall through Wednesday evening.
According to the NWS Hanford office, a low-pressure system currently offshore is expected to push into California overnight Tuesday, September 23, into Wednesday, September 24. The system will bring added moisture from the south, creating a 40 to 60 percent chance of at least a quarter-inch of rain across the Central Valley and foothill communities.
Forecast maps show the highest probabilities extending from Merced and Fresno southward toward Visalia, Tulare, and Bakersfield, where moderate rainfall totals could impact commutes and outdoor activities. Northern areas, including Modesto and Yosemite Valley, are also expected to see a slight to moderate chance of rainfall during the same period.
While forecasters do not expect significant flooding from this system, drivers should use caution on slick roads and allow extra travel time, particularly during Wednesday morning and evening commutes.
NWS officials continue to monitor the system and advise residents to stay updated on forecasts and alerts as conditions develop.
