Plainfield, IL – A car hauler truck collided with a freight train at a railroad crossing near Route 126 in Plainfield late Monday afternoon. The truck, which was carrying vehicles, was headed west on Route 126 and stopped due to traffic near the crossing just west of Center Street. As the trailer partially overhung the tracks, a southbound freight train struck it.
According to Plainfield police, the crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Several roads, including 143rd Street, Naperville Road, and Route 126, were blocked but reopened by 8:43 p.m. Authorities advised drivers to seek alternate routes while the scene was cleared.
