Nashville, TN – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across Middle Tennessee until noon today as freezing rain and sleet impact the region. Residents should prepare for icy roads, particularly along major routes like I-24 near Clarksville and Nashville.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), freezing rain began early Sunday morning, leading to potential ice accumulations of up to 0.10 inches. Travel conditions are expected to remain hazardous through midday as temperatures hover below freezing. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, reduce speeds, and allow extra time for commutes.
Looking ahead, additional showers are forecast throughout Sunday, with highs reaching 54 degrees as winds pick up to 25 mph. By Sunday night, temperatures will drop to 29 degrees, bringing a chance of snow showers into Monday morning. The workweek begins with a 30% chance of snow Monday, with temperatures reaching a high of 37 and gusty northwest winds.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see mostly cloudy skies and a colder trend, with highs of 34 and 31 degrees, respectively. Nighttime lows could dip into the teens, creating ongoing risks for icy conditions.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates and stay off the roads if possible during freezing conditions. Preparedness actions include keeping emergency supplies in vehicles and checking road conditions via 511 before traveling.
