Oklahoma City, OK – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across much of Oklahoma until midnight Tuesday, with snow, sleet, and freezing rain creating hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Norman, areas in central, northwest, and western Oklahoma may see up to two inches of snow and sleet, along with ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch. Bryan and Marshall counties in the southeastern part of the state are also under an advisory, with freezing rain expected to create slick roads and bridges.
Drivers should plan for slow travel, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Authorities urge caution on highways and city streets as ice accumulation could lead to dangerous conditions. Power outages are also possible in affected areas.
Residents are advised to check road conditions by dialing 511 and to prepare for delays. Freezing precipitation is expected to taper off by midnight, but lingering slick spots could persist into Wednesday morning.
