Mount Holly, NJ — A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for portions of eastern Pennsylvania and northwest New Jersey as freezing rain develops late Sunday afternoon and continues into the overnight hours.

The National Weather Service Mount Holly reports that the advisory is valid from 3 PM to 4 AM EST for Carbon and Monroe Counties, and from 6 PM Sunday to 2 AM Monday for the Lehigh Valley and nearby areas, including Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, as well as Morris, Sussex, and Warren Counties in New Jersey.

Periods of freezing rain are expected, resulting in ice accumulations ranging from a light glaze to around one to two tenths of an inch. Even small amounts of ice can lead to very slippery conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses, untreated roads, sidewalks, and elevated surfaces.

Travel may become difficult and hazardous, particularly during the evening and overnight hours. While widespread power outages are not expected, isolated outages remain possible where ice accumulates on trees and power lines.

Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time. Pedestrians should use caution when walking outdoors, as icy sidewalks and stairways may increase the risk of slips and falls.
