Springfield, MO – A freeze warning is in effect until 9 AM CDT Monday, with temperatures dropping to as low as the mid-20s across parts of southeast Kansas and Missouri.
The National Weather Service issued the freeze warning and a subsequent freeze watch, effective Monday evening through Tuesday morning. The affected regions include much of central, east-central, and southwest Missouri, along with portions of southeast Kansas. Sub-freezing temperatures could cause damage to crops, sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Residents are advised to take precautions to protect tender plants, and those with outdoor plumbing should ensure it is properly insulated to avoid potential damage. According to the National Weather Service, while the freeze warning will last through Monday morning, the freeze watch from Monday evening through Tuesday morning could bring even colder temperatures.
Farmers and gardeners in affected areas are urged to take steps to safeguard their crops. The freeze event comes as Missouri and surrounding regions face typical spring volatility, where abrupt temperature drops can threaten vulnerable plants.
