Cincinnati, OH – The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Freeze Warning for much of Ohio, northern Kentucky, and eastern Indiana, in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Friday.
Forecasters say temperatures will fall to around 30°F, creating widespread frost and sub-freezing conditions across the Ohio Valley. The warning covers major cities including Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Richmond (IN), and Maysville (KY).
A Frost Advisory remains in effect through Thursday morning, but the stronger freeze expected overnight Friday could end the growing season across the region.
According to the NWS, cold air and clear skies will allow for rapid cooling after midnight. Residents are urged to cover or bring in plants, drain sprinkler systems, and protect outdoor pipes to prevent damage.
Drivers should also prepare for frost-covered windshields during the morning commute. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the 50s later Friday, with milder weather returning over the weekend.
