Lincoln, IL – The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for portions of central, east-central, and southeast Illinois, effective from midnight Wednesday until 8 a.m. Thursday. Temperatures are expected to drop as low as 28 degrees, posing risks to crops and sensitive vegetation.

According to the weather service, affected areas include McLean, De Witt, Piatt, Champaign, Vermilion, and surrounding counties, impacting cities such as Bloomington, Decatur, and Danville. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect plants and outdoor plumbing from the freezing temperatures.

Officials advise covering tender plants and disconnecting outdoor hoses to prevent damage.
