Springfield, MO – A Freeze Warning has been issued for multiple counties in Missouri and Kansas as sub-freezing temperatures are expected to hit the region overnight. The National Weather Service has warned that temperatures could dip as low as 27°F, with the warning in effect from 11 PM CDT Monday until 9 AM CDT Tuesday.
The affected areas include portions of southeast Kansas and central, east-central, south-central, southwest, and west-central Missouri. Cities impacted include Springfield, Joplin, Branson, Ozark, and many others across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, frost and freeze conditions could potentially kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Additionally, unprotected outdoor plumbing may be at risk for damage. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, such as covering tender plants and protecting outdoor plumbing from the cold.
With this Freeze Warning in effect, drivers should also be cautious of icy patches on roads and prepare for colder-than-usual conditions through Tuesday morning.
