Norman, OK – The National Weather Service offices in Norman and Tulsa have issued a Freeze Warning for large portions of central, northern, and eastern Oklahoma, extending into northwest Arkansas, from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. CST Sunday, November 2.
Forecasters expect temperatures as low as 28 to 29 degrees, marking the first widespread hard freeze of the season. The warning area includes Tulsa, Stillwater, Enid, Ponca City, Muskogee, Tahlequah, Fayetteville, and Bentonville.
According to the NWS, sub-freezing temperatures could kill sensitive outdoor plants, damage crops, and affect unprotected plumbing. Residents are urged to bring plants indoors, cover outdoor faucets, and wrap pipes before temperatures plunge overnight.
The coldest conditions are expected between 3 a.m. and sunrise, with rural valleys and low-lying areas seeing the most severe chill. Urban areas like Tulsa and Fayetteville may stay a few degrees warmer but will still fall below freezing briefly.
After the morning freeze, Sunday will bring sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s to mid-50s, followed by another cold night Sunday into Monday.
Residents should continue to monitor updated forecasts from the National Weather Service in Norman and Tulsa as the cold front ushers in a chilly start to November.
