Wichita, KS – The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Freeze Warning for a wide stretch of central, south-central, and southeast Kansas from 1 a.m. CDT to 8 a.m. CST Sunday (Nov. 2).

Forecasters expect sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees, bringing the first hard freeze of the season to many parts of the region. The warning includes areas such as Wichita, El Dorado, Marion, Parsons, Coffeyville, Winfield, and Newton.

According to the NWS, frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, harm sensitive outdoor vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, wrap outdoor pipes, or allow faucets to drip slowly overnight to prevent freezing.

The transition from CDT to CST occurs during the advisory period, meaning clocks should be set back one hour at 2 a.m.

Sunday will begin with a cold, frosty start but bring sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s to near 50 degrees. Another freeze is possible early Monday morning as calm conditions persist.

Residents across Kansas should stay updated with the National Weather Service Wichita for additional cold-weather advisories and early-week forecasts.
