St. Louis, MO – The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a Freeze Warning in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. CST Sunday (Nov. 2) for much of central, east-central, northeast, and southeast Missouri, along with portions of southwest and west-central Illinois.

Forecasters expect sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees, signaling a hard freeze across the region. The advisory includes major communities such as St. Louis, Columbia, Jefferson City, Quincy, Hannibal, Belleville, Edwardsville, and Farmington.

According to the NWS, frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, damage sensitive plants, and potentially harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents should cover plants, insulate exposed pipes, or allow faucets to drip slowly overnight to prevent freezing.

Light winds and clear skies will allow temperatures to drop rapidly toward dawn, marking the first widespread freeze of the season for many areas.

Sunday will bring a chilly but sunny day, with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s, before another potential freeze returns early Monday.

Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts from the National Weather Service St. Louis as cold air continues to move through the Midwest this weekend.
