Paducah, KY – The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Freeze Warning for Carter and Wayne Counties in southeast Missouri from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. CST Sunday (Nov. 2).

Forecasters expect overnight lows around 30 degrees, bringing sub-freezing conditions capable of damaging plants, crops, and outdoor plumbing. Communities including Piedmont and Van Buren are likely to see a hard freeze before sunrise.

According to the NWS, residents should cover sensitive vegetation, wrap outdoor pipes, or allow faucets to drip slowly overnight to prevent damage. Frost and freeze conditions are likely to mark the end of the growing season for much of the region.

Skies will remain clear and winds light, allowing temperatures to fall quickly after midnight. By Sunday afternoon, sunshine will return with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, followed by another potential freeze early Monday morning.

The National Weather Service Paducah urges residents to take precautions tonight as colder air settles across southern Missouri and western Kentucky through the weekend.
