Freeport, IL – Charges Filed Against Man for Allegedly Brandishing Firearm, Drug Possession

Freeport, IL – The Freeport Police Department reported the arrest of Oscar Ortez, 32, on February 12, 2024, after officers were dispatched to a residence on E. Jefferson Street. 

Ortez allegedly threatened individuals with a firearm and was found in possession of what is suspected to be cocaine. He faces charges including a felony for possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor for the unlawful use of a weapon. 

Ortez awaits a detention hearing at Stephenson County Jail. Authorities emphasize the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
