Frederick County, VA – Authorities are investigating a series of vandalism incidents that may have impacted as many as eight properties across four jurisdictions in the northern Shenandoah Valley, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded Saturday night to the 5000 block of Main Street in Stephens City after a report of a possible shooting into a residence. Investigators later determined that a projectile shattered a window of the building, though no witnesses were able to provide a suspect or vehicle description at the scene.

A review of nearby surveillance footage showed the glass breaking at approximately 8:13 p.m. as a pickup truck was passing the area, officials said.

Similar incidents were also reported around the same time in Front Royal and other parts of Warren County. Authorities in those jurisdictions noted the presence of a suspicious pickup truck during the reported vandalism cases.

The Front Royal Police Department was able to access license plate reader data, which led investigators to a vehicle registered to a Frederick County address. Initial attempts to locate the vehicle and registered owner were unsuccessful, according to officials.

On Sunday, February 2, before search warrants could be executed, deputies located the vehicle while it was in motion and made contact with the driver. Investigators say evidence found inside the truck suggested possible involvement in the vandalism incidents, and the driver provided statements confirming his involvement.

Authorities believe additional individuals may also be connected to the incidents, which may span up to eight properties across Frederick County, Warren County, Front Royal, and Strasburg.

At this time, no charges have been filed in Frederick County as investigators await the completion of ongoing investigations by the Front Royal Police Department, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the Strasburg Police Department. Officials said suspect information will not be released until charges are formally filed.

Residents with information related to the incidents are encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
