Franklin County, MO – Drivers in Franklin County will face longer detours as the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced that Route MM at the Union Pacific Railroad Overpass near Labadie will remain closed until early 2026.

According to MoDOT, the project was originally scheduled to finish in Fall 2025. However, excavation work near the railroad in late July raised concerns about the stability of existing soil conditions. Additional testing conducted in August confirmed the need for further stabilizing earthwork before construction could safely continue.

MoDOT officials said that the new work plan includes extra earthwork to secure the site, with stabilizing operations expected to begin the week of September 22. Once completed, crews will resume building the retaining wall and realigning the roadway.

All work remains weather-dependent, meaning future delays are possible. Until the reopening, motorists traveling through Franklin County will need to use alternate routes.
