Franklin County, MO – Deputies in Franklin County responded to a violent home invasion on Clifton Lane earlier this week, resulting in felony charges against a Villa Ridge man.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, when deputies were called to a residence in the 900 block of Clifton Lane for an assault in progress. When they arrived, they found a victim with visible facial injuries.
Deputies reported the victim had been helping a family member change locks when the suspect, identified as 59-year-old Ricky Hopperton of Villa Ridge, allegedly entered the residence unlawfully. The victim intervened due to prior incidents of violence involving the suspect. Investigators say Hopperton allegedly made discriminatory comments toward the victim before beginning a physical assault. The suspect was ultimately forced out of the residence after a struggle.
Meramec Ambulance crews treated the victim for injuries at the scene. While deputies conducted their investigation, Hopperton allegedly created a disturbance near his home and was taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said Hopperton was booked into the Franklin County Adult Detention Facility. Prosecutors charged him with first-degree burglary and third-degree assault motivated by discrimination. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
Authorities stressed that all parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
