Frankfort, IL – The annual Frankfort Fall Festival kicks off Saturday in downtown Frankfort, bringing with it major street closures and traffic adjustments through Monday, Sept. 1. Residents and visitors are urged to plan ahead to avoid delays and parking issues.

According to the Frankfort Police Department, several downtown streets will be closed beginning Saturday morning, with closures stretching through Labor Day. White Street from Elwood to Nebraska will be fully shut down for the duration of the festival. Kansas, Oak, and Ash Streets between Maple and Nebraska will also be closed to traffic. Parade routes on Sunday, Aug. 31, will bring additional closures between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Festival traffic will be restricted with controlled access zones from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Residents entering certain areas must show proof of residency with a valid driver’s license. Meanwhile, festival organizers advise visitors to use Sauk Trail, Laraway Road, and La Grange Road as the best routes into town.

The police department also issued parking restrictions. No parking will be allowed on multiple streets starting as early as 4 p.m. Friday, including parts of West Bowen and North Maple. Parade-day restrictions will be in effect Sunday, with no access downtown between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Authorities recommend using the festival shuttle service and signing up for Everbridge alerts by texting “FallFest2025” to 888-777 for real-time updates on traffic, safety, and weather.

The Frankfort Fall Festival, which annually draws tens of thousands of visitors, will feature live music, food vendors, a parade, and one of the Midwest’s largest arts and crafts markets.
