Frankfort, IL – Downtown Frankfort will experience temporary road closures tonight due to the Frankfort Park District’s Short Run on a Long Day 5K run/walk. The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. and is expected to draw a significant number of participants.

According to the Frankfort Police Department, main roads including Kansas Street, White Street, and Elwood Street will be closed to ensure the safety of runners and walkers. These closures will make driving in and out of downtown challenging during the event. Side streets such as Nebraska Street and Oregon Street will also be blocked off with orange cones and staffed by park district employees and volunteers to guide traffic and participants.

The event is expected to conclude by 8:15 p.m., at which time normal traffic flow will resume. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their travel accordingly and allow for extra time if they need to navigate through the downtown area.

The annual event, now in its 24th year, is a community favorite that promotes fitness and camaraderie among participants of all ages. The Frankfort Park District appreciates the understanding and support of the community during this event and encourages everyone to drive safely and enjoy the evening.
