Frankfort, IL – Frankfort residents are encouraged to join the community-wide cleanup event scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025. The event, in honor of Earth & Arbor Day, will focus on tidying up neighborhoods, parks, roadways, and the Old Plank Road Trail.
The cleanup will run throughout the day, with volunteers able to participate anytime before 4 p.m. According to the Village of Frankfort, garbage bags, gloves, and T-shirts will be provided to participants, while supplies last. Volunteers can pick up cleanup supplies at Village Hall between April 21 and April 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Those interested in joining the effort will need to sign up for a specific cleanup location, including neighborhoods, subdivisions, roadways, parks, or the trail. Prizes will be awarded for the largest item collected, the strangest item found, and the most trash gathered. Photos of items should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on April 26 to slynchey@frankfortil.org. Winners will be notified by April 28.
In addition to making Frankfort greener and cleaner, the cleanup event offers students the opportunity to earn community service hours.
