Frankfort, IL – Residents in Frankfort have two new ways to turn Halloween leftovers into community good this month. The local Girl Scouts and the Village of Frankfort are partnering on separate recycling and donation drives aimed at keeping waste out of landfills while supporting local charities.
According to the Frankfort Police Department, Mayor Keith Ogle’s office is collecting unopened candy at Frankfort Village Hall (432 W. Nebraska St.) through Friday, November 21. Donations will be distributed to area charities serving veterans, children’s advocacy groups, and local families in need, including the Will County Child Advocacy Center.
Meanwhile, local Girl Scout troops are hosting a Pumpkin Recycling Drive at Hickory Creek Middle School (22150 116th Ave.) on November 8–9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The goal: divert 500 pumpkins from landfills by composting them responsibly.
Both efforts aim to give families a simple way to contribute after Halloween. Residents are encouraged to drop off unwanted pumpkins and leftover candy to help reduce waste and spread kindness across the community.
