Green Bay, Wisconsin – Snow-covered and slippery roads are impacting travel across central and northeast Wisconsin early Friday, creating a slow and hazardous morning commute in several areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, road conditions at 5:45 a.m. Friday showed reduced visibility and snow-covered pavement across much of east-central Wisconsin. While snow is beginning to diminish over central Wisconsin, light to moderate snow continues farther east and north, including the Fox Valley.

Drivers should expect slick conditions, particularly on untreated roads, ramps, bridges, and overpasses. Visibility reductions have been observed in areas with ongoing snow, contributing to slower traffic speeds during the morning commute.

The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra travel time to reach their destinations safely. Conditions may vary significantly over short distances, especially where snowfall continues.

Traffic camera imagery early Friday showed snow-covered lanes and wet roadways on major routes, reinforcing the risk for sudden slowdowns. While snowfall intensity is expected to gradually decrease, lingering slick spots may persist even after snow tapers off.

No specific snowfall totals were highlighted in the morning update, but even light accumulations have been sufficient to create travel impacts during peak commute hours.

For commuters, students, and morning travelers, the combination of reduced visibility and slippery roads may cause delays, particularly in urban corridors and along high-traffic routes in the Fox Valley and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service recommends continuing to monitor local forecasts and road condition updates as crews work to improve travel conditions through the morning.
