Green Bay, Wis. – Thunderstorms are expected to develop Friday across central and northeast Wisconsin as a strong cold front moves through the region, bringing a dramatic shift from summer warmth to fall-like conditions by Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, scattered storms will move in Friday afternoon and evening, with a chance of an isolated severe storm, particularly north and west of the Fox Valley. Damaging wind gusts are the main concern.

By Saturday night into Sunday, temperatures will tumble into the 50s and 60s for daytime highs, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 40s in some areas. These readings are well below seasonal averages for late August. Cities including Wausau, Green Bay, and Appleton will feel the sharp drop, with highs only in the low 60s Sunday compared to the upper 70s earlier in the week.

Drivers should prepare for slick roads during Friday’s storms and cooler mornings that could require light jackets next week. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items ahead of Friday’s gusty winds and monitor local alerts for possible severe storm warnings.

Cooler-than-normal weather is expected to linger through midweek, keeping highs in the 60s to low 70s with minimal rain chances after Friday’s front.
