Las Vegas, Nevada – Thunderstorms are expected to impact four states across the Desert Southwest through Sunday night, with intense rainfall, frequent lightning, and strong outflow winds threatening portions of Nevada, Arizona, California, and southern Utah.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, storms will develop over higher elevations before sweeping into lower valleys. Southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona are under the most significant threat, with rain chances above 50% in areas like Mesquite and Kingman. Las Vegas holds around a 29% chance, while areas near St. George, Utah could also see scattered storms develop through the afternoon and evening.
Frequent lightning and erratic wind gusts may lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, especially near slot canyons, desert washes, and burn scars. Power flickers and brief outages are possible as storms move through Mohave County, southern Utah’s Washington County, and inland San Bernardino County in California. Motorists on I-15, US-93, and UT-9 should drive cautiously amid potential downpours and shifting winds.
Storm chances diminish by late Sunday night, but additional advisories may be issued if new cells redevelop or linger into early Monday.
