Fountain County, IN – A motorcycle pursuit turned deadly Sunday afternoon after a high-speed chase through Fountain County ended in a fatal crash in downtown Attica, according to Indiana State Police.
Trooper Millburg was patrolling southbound on U.S. 41 near County Road 650 North around 3:45 p.m. when he clocked a northbound motorcycle traveling over 100 mph in a 55 mph zone. Authorities say the trooper attempted a U-turn to stop the motorcycle but lost sight of it as it sped away.
According to state police, nearby agencies—including officers from Attica and Williamsport—were alerted and began searching for the rider. As two Attica officers traveled south on U.S. 41, the fleeing motorcyclist reportedly sideswiped one patrol vehicle and continued into town. The motorcycle then turned onto Main Street before striking a Chevrolet Silverado at the intersection of Main and Perry streets.
The driver of the Silverado was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcyclist was ejected and transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, police said. The rider’s identity will be released by the Fountain County Coroner.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Lafayette Post, Attica Police, Williamsport Police, and the Fountain and Warren County Sheriff’s Offices, along with Attica Fire and Fountain County EMS.
