Fort Worth, Texas – Texans should brace for sizzling conditions Sunday, with heat index values soaring up to 103° and a slight chance of afternoon storms in the southeast.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, overnight lows will settle in the 70s before highs rebound into the mid to upper 90s on Sunday. South winds between 10–20 mph will push hot, humid air across the region, particularly impacting cities like Waco, Killeen, and Palestine.

The NWS warns that even though storm chances remain low—just 10 to 20%—isolated sea breeze thunderstorms could pop up across Central and Southeast Texas during the late afternoon. Rain chances are most likely in areas like Canton and Palestine.

With a heat index between 96° and 103°, residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Air conditioning and shaded areas will be crucial for anyone spending time outside.

Storm chances fade by evening, but the intense heat will persist through early next week. More advisories may be issued if temperatures continue trending upward.
