Fort Worth, Texas – A stretch of unseasonably warm fall weather will keep highs in the low 90s across North Texas through early next week, raising fire danger concerns despite cooler overnight lows.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Friday through Monday will bring abundant sunshine with highs of 89 to 92 degrees and lows holding near 68 to 71. Winds remain light and variable, generally under 10 mph. With no rain in sight, soils will continue to dry across Tarrant, Denton, Parker, and Johnson counties, and relative humidity values will dip each afternoon. These conditions could elevate grass fire risk along I-35W and I-20, especially in rural stretches west and south of the Metroplex.

Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning, properly extinguish cigarettes, and secure chains on trailers to prevent sparks along highways. The Texas A&M Forest Service warns that warm, breezy afternoons paired with ongoing drought conditions make vegetation more vulnerable to ignition.

While the clear skies bring good travel weather for I-30 and DFW Airport through the weekend, heat-sensitive groups should continue to dress in layers, stay hydrated, and limit strenuous activity in peak afternoon hours. Pets and livestock also need ample shade and water as highs remain near record levels for early October.

Relief is possible by midweek as models hint at a weak front, though confidence remains low. Until then, residents should plan for persistent heat and dry conditions as fall activities ramp up across North Texas.
