Fort Worth, TX – Storm chances are creeping into the North Texas forecast Tuesday, with the National Weather Service warning of isolated thunderstorms developing after 4 p.m. in the Fort Worth area. Any storms that form could bring brief heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds, just as afternoon commuters hit the road.

According to the National Weather Service, the day will start sunny and hot, with temperatures climbing to around 96°F and a heat index near 104°. A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in late afternoon, affecting Tarrant County and nearby communities including Arlington and Mansfield. While widespread severe weather isn’t expected, lightning and slick roads could impact after-school activities and evening travel.

Residents planning outdoor work or events should wrap up before mid-afternoon, as storms could form quickly. Hydration will also be key, with heat indices well above 100° making prolonged outdoor exposure dangerous.

The thunderstorm threat diminishes Tuesday night, but another, smaller chance for rain returns Wednesday afternoon. Sunny, dangerously hot weather is expected to dominate the rest of the week, with highs pushing toward the upper 90s.
