Fort Worth, TX – A developing storm system is expected to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms to North and Central Texas beginning Wednesday and continuing into Friday, setting up the region’s wettest stretch of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, an upper-level system will push moisture into the area by midweek, increasing rain chances significantly from Tuesday night onward. While exact rainfall totals remain unclear, forecasters caution that localized heavy rainfall and pockets of flooding will be possible—especially Wednesday and Thursday, when rain chances peak.
Meteorologists say uncertainty remains regarding the system’s severe weather potential and where the highest rain totals will set up. The positioning of the upper-level disturbance and incoming moisture plume will influence thunderstorm intensity and coverage across the Dallas–Fort Worth metro, Central Texas, and surrounding counties.
Rain chances appear highest Wednesday and Thursday before gradually tapering Friday. Even so, forecasters note that additional updates are expected as model data becomes more consistent. Residents should monitor the forecast closely over the next several days, especially if planning travel or outdoor activities during the midweek period.
While severe weather is not guaranteed, the National Weather Service emphasizes the importance of staying weather-aware, as thunderstorms capable of producing heavy downpours or isolated strong storms can develop with little lead time.
