Fort Worth, Texas – Drivers across North and Central Texas should brace for increasing north winds up to 35 mph tonight into Saturday afternoon, creating crosswind concerns along I-35W and other major corridors through the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, another cold front will move through the region tonight, reinforcing cooler air already in place. Sustained winds will increase to 20 to 25 mph behind the front, with gusts reaching 35 mph by Saturday afternoon. These gusts could impact high-profile vehicles along I-35W in Fort Worth, I-20 across Dallas County and US-75 toward Sherman.
Overnight temperatures will fall into the upper 30s and 40s across the Metroplex, including 46 degrees in Dallas-Fort Worth, 39 in Bowie and upper 40s in Waco and Killeen. While no precipitation is expected, the brisk winds combined with cooler air will create a noticeable chill for early morning commuters Saturday.
By Saturday afternoon, highs will range from the upper 50s northwest of the Metroplex to the upper 60s and lower 70s across Central Texas. Waco could reach near 68 degrees, while Killeen and Hearne approach the lower 70s. Despite the sunshine, persistent winds may cause minor travel issues on elevated roadways and open stretches of highway.
Drivers should keep both hands on the wheel, especially on east-west roads where crosswinds will be strongest. Secure loose outdoor items and remain alert for sudden gusts through Saturday evening. Winds are expected to gradually ease late Saturday night.
