Dallas, Texas – Widespread showers bringing 0.5 to 1.5 inches of rain are expected along I-35 Saturday, potentially disrupting Valentine’s Day plans across North and Central Texas.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, showers and thunderstorms will return late Friday night into Saturday. The heaviest rainfall is expected Saturday, with most locations forecast to receive between one-half inch and one and a half inches.
Rain may arrive later Saturday afternoon for areas east of Interstate 35, including Canton and Palestine. Western communities such as Graham and Cisco could see activity begin earlier.
Forecasters say a few isolated strong storms may develop Saturday. Small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning are possible, though the overall threat for severe weather remains low.
Major corridors including Interstate 35 from Dallas-Fort Worth to Waco, Interstate 30 toward Fort Worth, U.S. Highway 75 near Sherman, and Interstate 14 near Killeen could experience periods of heavy rain and reduced visibility Saturday afternoon and evening.
Outdoor events and travel plans may face interruptions. The National Weather Service advises residents to move indoors when thunder is heard and allow extra travel time during heavier downpours.
Rain is expected to shift east Saturday night, with most precipitation exiting North and Central Texas by early Sunday morning.
Students, weekend travelers, and holiday diners may encounter wet road conditions during peak activity hours Saturday.
Updated forecasts will refine rainfall totals and storm timing as the system approaches.
