Fort Worth, Texas – North Texans can finally expect relief from the relentless summer heat as cooler temperatures and increased rain chances settle in through early September. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reports a greater than 90% chance that temperatures will remain below 100 degrees, marking a welcome shift after weeks of triple-digit highs.

According to the Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 day outlook, temperatures across Texas and much of the central U.S. are expected to trend below seasonal averages between August 31 and September 4. Rain chances are also climbing, with above-normal precipitation likely across much of the state. The combination means more cloud cover, higher humidity, and cooler afternoons compared to the scorching conditions North Texans have endured.

Cities like Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington should see highs staying in the mid-90s, while areas to the east toward Tyler and Longview may benefit from steadier rainfall. Travel impacts could arise from periods of heavy rain, and residents are encouraged to plan ahead for slick roads. The Texas Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down on wet highways and allow extra travel time.

The cooler, wetter trend is expected to persist into early September, with the possibility of additional advisories if rainfall increases.
