Fort Worth, TX – The National Weather Service in Fort Worth is warning residents of an elevated wildfire threat on Sunday, particularly along and west of the I-35 corridor, as warm, dry, and breezy conditions settle across North and Central Texas.

According to the US National Weather Service Fort Worth, south winds will range from 10 to 15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph, with minimum relative humidity between 20% and 30%. Combined with above-normal temperatures—reaching up to 94°F in Graham and around 90°F in Waco and Killeen—these conditions could quickly ignite and spread fires.

Officials advise residents to avoid outdoor burning, secure tow chains, and never park or drive over tall grass. Cigarette disposal is also a concern, as even small sparks can lead to fast-moving wildfires under Sunday’s forecasted weather.

The fire threat zone covers a large portion of western and central North Texas, including cities such as Graham, Cisco, Waco, and Killeen, with slightly lower risk extending into the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware through the weekend and follow local fire advisories. Updated alerts and forecasts can be found at weather.gov/FWD.
