Fort Worth, Texas – Cool, dry, and breezy conditions are expected across the Fort Worth area today, followed by chilly mornings Sunday and Monday before temperatures rebound early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, north winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25–30 mph will develop this afternoon behind a cold front. Afternoon highs are forecast to peak only in the low to mid-50s, slightly below seasonal averages.

The combination of breezy winds and low humidity will create elevated fire weather conditions, especially near and west of Interstate 35, where fuels are more receptive. While no red flag warning has been issued, residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and use caution with activities that could spark fires.

Looking ahead, chilly mornings are expected Sunday and Monday, as lingering cold air settles over North Texas. Morning low temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to upper 30s, with Fort Worth near the mid-30s. Officials recommend protecting sensitive plants, bringing pets indoors, and bundling up before heading out early.

After the cold start Monday, temperatures will warm quickly to above normal. Highs are expected to reach the upper 50s to mid-60s by Monday afternoon, then climb into the mid- to upper 60s Tuesday across the Fort Worth area. A midweek cold front on Wednesday will bring a return to more seasonable temperatures, though no rain is forecast with the front.

Winds will remain lighter after today, and dry conditions are expected to persist through the upcoming week.

This forecast is especially relevant for outdoor workers, commuters, and residents west of I-35, where fire danger will be highest this afternoon.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service as wind speeds, temperatures, and fire conditions evolve.
