Fort Worth, TX – Residents in Fort Worth are set to face the hottest stretch of August on Friday, when temperatures climb near 98°F and heat index values reach a dangerous 105°F. The National Weather Service warns that prolonged outdoor exposure could lead to heat-related illness, especially during the late morning and afternoon hours.

According to the National Weather Service, light south winds of 5 to 10 mph will do little to ease the oppressive heat. Friday’s conditions will be especially taxing for those attending outdoor school sports, construction crews, or anyone without access to air conditioning. Cooling centers across Tarrant County are expected to see increased traffic.

Saturday will bring slightly cooler—but still intense—heat, with highs near 96°F and gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon. Relief will be limited until early next week, when scattered showers may help moderate temperatures. Until then, residents are urged to limit strenuous activity, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

More heat advisories could be issued if temperatures continue trending upward, with the next significant weather change not expected until Monday.
