Fort Worth, Texas — A cold front moving across North Texas today could trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some storms becoming strong to severe.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, storms are expected to spread east and south across the region throughout Saturday, affecting parts of the Dallas–Fort Worth metro area and surrounding communities.

Forecasters say large hail is the primary severe weather concern, though heavy rainfall may also lead to localized flooding in some areas.

Storm timing will vary across the region. The National Weather Service indicates storms may affect western areas through late morning, reach parts of the Dallas–Fort Worth area between about 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., and continue into Central Texas between noon and 6 p.m.

While not all storms will become severe, officials warn that conditions could allow a few storms to intensify as the cold front moves through.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts and remain indoors if thunderstorms develop, particularly if severe thunderstorm warnings are issued.

Drivers should also avoid traveling through flooded roadways during heavy rain.

For commuters, students, and weekend travelers across North Texas, changing storm conditions could lead to brief downpours, lightning, and hail during the daytime hours.
