Fort Worth, TX – A strong cold front will bring the coldest air of the season to North and Central Texas early next week, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue a Freeze Watch from 9 p.m. Monday through 9 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the NWS Fort Worth, temperatures will plunge into the upper 20s to low 30s across much of the region, marking the first near- or below-freezing readings of the season. Rural and sheltered areas, particularly near the Red River and the Big Country, may experience even colder conditions.

Monday morning is expected to bring wind chills between 21°F and 30°F in northern areas, with central Texas seeing values as low as 33°F. While some daytime warming is forecast by midweek, Tuesday morning will remain chilly, with lows ranging from the 30s to low 40s.

Residents are urged to bring pets indoors, cover sensitive plants, and bundle up for the morning commute. The NWS advises that freezing temperatures could damage unprotected vegetation and pose risks to outdoor animals.

The Freeze Watch covers a wide stretch including Dallas-Fort Worth, Waco, Sherman, Graham, Killeen, Canton, and surrounding communities.
