Fort Wayne, Ind. – Northern Indiana will see another stretch of hot, humid weather through the weekend, with temperatures climbing into the low 90s and heat index values reaching the upper 90s by Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service says conditions will remain mostly dry through Sunday night before storm chances return early next week.

According to the NWS Northern Indiana office, showers and a few thunderstorms could begin developing west of Indiana State Road 15 as early as Monday afternoon, with a higher likelihood for widespread activity Monday night into Tuesday. Any storms that form could bring brief heavy rain and gusty winds, though severe weather is not currently expected.

Residents in Fort Wayne, South Bend, and surrounding counties should be prepared for heat safety measures Sunday, including limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, staying hydrated, and checking on vulnerable neighbors. The combination of heat and humidity will push heat index readings between 90° and 99° both Sunday and Monday.

The pattern stays warm and humid into midweek, with additional storm chances possible by Wednesday. More updates will follow as the week unfolds.
