Fort Wayne, Ind. – Residents across northern Indiana will face hot and humid conditions through the weekend, with heat index values climbing toward 100 degrees each afternoon. While skies will see scattered clouds, rain chances remain minimal, keeping the region dry but intensifying heat stress.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, Saturday and Sunday will bring highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, but humidity will push apparent temperatures into the mid- to upper-90s. Overnight lows will offer only limited relief, staying in the upper 60s to low 70s.
The combination of heat and humidity can quickly lead to dehydration and heat exhaustion, especially for those working outdoors or attending weekend events. Officials advise limiting strenuous activity during peak heat, staying hydrated, and using sunscreen when outdoors. Vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly, should avoid prolonged exposure.
Roadways and sidewalks will remain dry, but drivers are urged to be alert for heat-related vehicle issues, such as overheating engines and tire blowouts. The hot pattern is expected to hold through Sunday evening before slightly cooler conditions arrive early next week.
