Fort Wayne, Indiana – Drivers across Fort Wayne are facing a tricky morning commute as a cold front sweeps through northern Indiana, bringing gusty snow showers and sudden drops in visibility. Brief bursts of snow combined with strong winds are creating slick conditions on area roads, especially during the early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, wind gusts between 25 and 35 mph are accompanying snow showers as the Arctic front moves through. Snowfall totals are generally light, ranging from a dusting up to half an inch, but the intensity of short-lived snow bands may briefly reduce visibility to under a mile. Blowing and drifting snow is also possible north to south across the region tonight as winds remain elevated.

In Allen County, major routes including I-69, I-469, U.S. 30, and State Road 1 are seeing rapidly changing conditions. Bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads may become slick with little warning. Officials urge motorists to slow down, turn on low-beam headlights in reduced visibility, and leave extra space between vehicles.

Conditions improve later today as snow showers taper off, but cold air remains in place. Drivers are encouraged to monitor road conditions closely, as additional slick spots may redevelop overnight if winds continue and temperatures stay cold.
