Fort Wayne, Ind. – Drivers across northern Indiana will face limited visibility early Friday as a dense fog advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m., creating potentially dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread dense fog is expected to reduce visibility to less than a quarter-mile in many areas overnight into the morning commute. The advisory covers Allen County, including Fort Wayne, as well as surrounding communities in northeastern Indiana. Calm winds and overnight lows near 53 degrees will keep fog thick until late morning when sunshine returns.

Roadways including I-69, U.S. 30, and U.S. 24 could see slowed traffic as headlights and caution are required for safe travel. The Indiana Department of Transportation urges drivers to allow extra time, reduce speed, and use low-beam headlights when moving through fog-heavy areas.

Conditions improve by midday Friday with highs near 78 degrees, followed by a stretch of clear, sunny weather into early next week.

Fog advisories may be extended if visibility does not improve by late morning, though forecasters expect steady clearing after sunrise.
