Fort Wayne, IN – A woman was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross N. Coliseum Blvd, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department. Officers responded to the 1200 block just after 8:19 p.m. for reports of an injury crash.
When officers arrived, they found an adult female lying in the roadway unresponsive. Medics pronounced her deceased at the scene. Initial information indicates the woman was attempting to cross the roadway on foot when she was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound.
According to police, the adult driver immediately stopped, called 911, and is fully cooperating with investigators. No other injuries were reported, and no additional vehicles were involved.
The FWPD’s FACT team is now processing the scene, reviewing potential surveillance footage and gathering additional evidence. Southbound lanes of N. Coliseum Blvd remained closed Wednesday night as investigators worked.
The identity of the victim, along with the official cause and manner of death, will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
Residents in the area reported significant delays as officers diverted traffic around the scene.
