Fort Wayne drivers may face slick spots on I-69 and surrounding roads Wednesday as scattered showers and patchy fog linger. The National Weather Service warns that isolated thunderstorms are possible through this evening, though severe weather is not expected. Motorists should slow down in reduced visibility and allow extra travel time, especially during the morning and evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, conditions improve Thursday as only a slight chance of showers remains. Clouds will break by Thursday night, setting up a sunny and warmer stretch through the weekend. Afternoon highs will climb into the upper 70s and low 80s, delivering one of the last summerlike weekends of September.

The first week of fall is also bringing noticeably cooler nights. Low temperatures will dip into the low to mid-50s Thursday and Friday, making for crisp mornings before rebounding into warm afternoons. This shift signals the seasonal transition, though forecasters note no freezing temperatures are in sight yet.

Travelers across northern Indiana and into northwest Ohio should remain alert through Thursday afternoon for brief downpours, but major flooding or severe weather threats remain minimal. By Friday, calm winds and dry air will dominate, allowing for excellent outdoor conditions into early next week.

More weather advisories could be issued if shower chances linger longer than expected, but for now, Indiana looks set for clear skies as September closes.
