Fort Wayne, Indiana – Northern Indiana will see a milder but still wintry week, with light snow possible Monday and additional chances for lake-effect snow later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana, temperatures will not be as cold as recent days, with daytime highs remaining in the 20s and overnight lows staying above zero for most areas. Despite the moderation, several periods of snow remain possible.

Forecasters say up to one inch of snow could fall Monday, with the highest totals expected north of U.S. Highway 6. Light snowfall may briefly affect travel during the morning and afternoon hours, particularly along Interstate 69, Interstate 80/90, and U.S. Highway 31. Roads may become slick at times, though widespread disruptions are not expected.

From Tuesday into Wednesday, there is a low chance for light lake-effect snow, especially closer to Lake Michigan. Any lake-effect activity is expected to be scattered and light, but localized slick spots could develop during the overnight and early morning hours.

Another weather system is being monitored for Thursday night into Friday, which could bring additional snow to parts of northern Indiana. Forecast confidence on snowfall amounts and coverage remains low at this time, and residents are encouraged to monitor updates as the week progresses.

Daily highs are expected to range from the mid-20s to mid-30s, with the warmest temperatures anticipated by Friday. Overnight lows will generally fall into the teens and lower 20s, reducing the risk of extreme cold but still supporting icy conditions where snow occurs.

The combination of light snow chances and fluctuating temperatures may affect commuters, students, and delivery drivers across the region, especially during the early morning hours on major roadways.
