Fort Wayne, Indiana – Cold temperatures and periods of light snow are expected across the Fort Wayne area through midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

Early Tuesday morning conditions at Fort Wayne International Airport showed temperatures near 20°F, with light snow falling and wind chills around 6°F. West winds near 20 mph are contributing to the cold feel and may lead to localized blowing snow, especially on open roads.

The National Weather Service reports a chance of flurries today, with daytime highs expected to reach only 25°F. Snow chances increase Tuesday night into Wednesday, when snow is likely during the morning and afternoon hours. While snowfall totals are expected to remain light, generally less than 1 inch, untreated roads and bridges could become slick during commute periods.

Wednesday’s high temperature is forecast near 31°F, followed by colder conditions Wednesday night with lows dropping to around 14°F. Northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph, with higher gusts, may push wind chills back into the single digits overnight.

Conditions gradually improve late week. New Year’s Day is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 23°F, followed by slightly milder weather Friday with highs approaching 29°F under partly sunny skies. Overnight temperatures will continue to fall into the teens and lower 20s.

No winter storm warnings or advisories are currently in effect for Allen County, and spotter activation is not anticipated at this time. However, the National Weather Service advises monitoring conditions closely as light snow can still impact travel.

Commuters, students, and early-morning workers should allow extra travel time and dress for cold wind chills, especially during overnight and early-morning hours through midweek.
