Indiana – Light snow begins to streak across windshields as gray skies settle over northern Indiana, and the cold sharpens quickly. Roads may look manageable at first glance, but conditions are set to deteriorate as snow and falling temperatures combine.

Light snow spreads across Fort Wayne and surrounding counties through the afternoon, with accumulations ranging from a dusting to as much as 1 to 3 inches in spots. According to the National Weather Service Northern Indiana office, snowfall rates stay light, but road conditions may worsen quickly as temperatures fall through the day. Even minor accumulation can create slick travel during busy weekend hours.

Highs reach the mid-20s before sliding into the teens by late afternoon. Gusty west winds add bite, pushing wind chills toward the single digits. According to the National Weather Service, snow tapers this evening, but the bigger concern shifts to refreezing as untreated roads ice over.

Travel impacts increase tonight. Snow-covered stretches of I-69, I-469, and U.S. 30 may turn slick as temperatures drop near 6 degrees. Wind chills fall to near 10 below zero, making breakdowns more dangerous. Drivers should keep extra layers, blankets, and a charged phone in the vehicle.

Sunday brings cold but quieter weather. Skies partially clear, yet highs struggle near 19 degrees. Wind chills remain near or below zero for much of the day. According to forecasters, another round of cold wind chills near 10 to 15 below zero is possible again Sunday night.

Conditions slowly improve Monday as sunshine returns and highs rebound toward 20 degrees. A more noticeable warm-up arrives Tuesday, with temperatures climbing above freezing and helping roads recover. Any melting, however, may refreeze after dark.

This is a classic early-winter setup: light snow, sharp cold, and icy travel risks. How are road conditions where you are right now?
